ARCANE Borders
About ARCANE Borders
ArcaneBorders.com is the creation of Rob and Nonie Douglas, authors of Unquiet Voices - the Magical Art of Laying Ghosts.
We developed this site in memory of Rob's mother, a fearsome Border woman whose courage and certainty inspired all those who knew her. Also, his grandparents who were legends in their own time.

We hope to capture some of the regional philosophies, stories, culture and esoteric practices of southern Scotland which they lived, loved and shared. Most importantly, we want to impart their love of the Old Ones (Auld Yins) and the hidden knowledge of her wild and untamed lands.
Over time we hope to add more articles for those inquisitive minds and wandering spirits seeking a spiritual home, who may be lost in the Border diaspora or the uncertain terrain of cyberspace.
Rob Douglas
Rob was born into a Border Reiver family centered in Galloway, who kept the old ways and the old gods alive. Learning at his mother's knee, Rob has dedicated himself to a legacy of regional magical traditions through practice, research and revival. His love of esoterica led him to become a dedicated ritualist and independent researcher with specialist knowledge in medieval ceremonial magic and British initiatory traditions. No matter where he finds himself in the world, he always considers the Border regions his home.

Nonie Douglas

Nonie has been involved in the magical traditions of Galloway and the Borders for nearly thirty years as Rob's partner. She learned the practices associated with prophecy, soul healing, magic and the afterlife from his maternal family and has continued to expand her knowledge through the study of arcana. Like many, Nonie is part of the Scottish diaspora and grew up ignorant of her heritage, but longing for it. She is interested in helping others who may be seeking a genuine spiritual path to reconnect to their origins and respectfully embrace living traditions.
